The European in me…

As I get ready for work, my mind is drifting and I find myself traveling down the road that leads to my passion for travel. Maybe it is my sense of adventure and exploring new places that leaves me feeling like Columbus must have felt while discovering a new oasis for my heart, maybe I’m homesick and maybe it is my sense of beauty for this world, my bohemian roots, my gypsy, wandering spirit that is yearning to be free.

One particular picture comes to mind and I have a soft spot for this country that lies far far away from me right now but remains always close to my heart. I took this picture in Verona Italy, the birthplace of Romeo and Juliet (do I need to say more?), and besides it’s visual beauty it speaks to the hopeless romantic that lives within me. It was a warm summer night and we slept in the car before taking the train into Venice the next morning. Ah Venice, I do miss you and Europe all together. ❤️

Have a great day everybody, I hope you enjoy this picture which remains years after, still a favorite.

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

    1. Did you ever get the chance to visit Patty? It such a different lifestyle and the world is slowed down a bit with more work life balance.
I always say that we are not lazy people but in Germany we work for a living instead of living to work.

      1. Yes, I’ve been to many countries in Europe several times. I’ve just loved the routine of buying food for my dinner and breakfast for the next day on my way home in the evening. I love the dignity of riding a train and sipping on tea or coffee. I’ve not been to Germany, but I get what you are saying. Germany is on my bucket list of places to visit. I am half Irish and half German. I’ve had the privilege to spend weeks at a time in Ireland because of attending conferences there.

      2. That’s amazing Patty and Ireland is on my bucket list. I imagine it so beautifully from all the pictures I have seen and I hope I get to go some day.
Yeah you are right and the food is a lot different as well and we eat more fresh vs. packaged up meat etc.. It’s such a different atmosphere and going to the store in the morning etc. is actually enjoyable to get your fresh groceries and doesn’t feel like a rushed task. I enjoyed it.

  1. My favorite country in the world is Italy. I studied there for a month and traveled through it on holiday once. Such wonderful gelato and remarkable beauty everywhere 🙂 Also…I genuinely have gypsy blood in my family line 😀 No wonder we get each other, lol! The thought of travel and adventure is always inspiring…there’s so much to treasure out there in the world. Thank you for my moonchild dose of inspiration 😉

    1. I couldn’t have said it better and I share your opinion to the tee. There is just something about travel and exploring. Especially in Europe and that old world charm that gets lost in all the hectic here. I miss it.

  2. Oooohhhh Verona… such a nice place to visit. I’ve never seen it by night though, so thank you to your picture is like I can make it whole in my experience!! 😀 I have the luck of travelling a lot for work, but working a lot at my birthplace too, so I’ve never really felt homesick. At the beginning I was running away from my home, my city, my country, for the narrow minded people I met there, but with the years thing have changed, I have changed and sometimes I think I could go back again there. I don’t know if this is the same feeling you have, I don’t know your reasons for going away, but yes, where your roots began, is a place that in a way will call you back forever… 🙂

    1. Yes I do have a soft spot for your homeland and I’m glad I could show you this Picture at night. I knew you could appreciate its beauty and you too see beauty in the simplest of things. Not that I’m saying this is a simple picture and the view was stunning. But you appreciate things most would just walks past and that is special.
I once won a photo contest with a picture of a weed that nobody probably ever gave any attention to but me hahaha
