The spiritual immune system by Henri Bergson

Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the evils of ignorance.

Who else can relate to this?

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

  1. Beautiful words indeed Rhapsody. And we will all relate to it dear lady, its immune system is a design function within us to create something in sharing this world. If you have emotions you are adventuring to its core, and each infection we get that takes us from our positives to the negative of all those emotions, we will build more and more white blood cells of wisdom against it until we finally see through them all and see what we are truly built of inside…and in there is something wonderful 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

      1. Not at all dear lady, spirit asked me to speak so people could understand. If I just poured out the pure spirit it would confuse many because they are down here, human to the core. It would be like showing a mathematics student Einsteins theory of relativity before showing them how to do basic maths.
And that is not to say I know it all. Shoot, I still trip over my shoe laces, often 🤣
I have just been blessed with going through my inner pain and seeing what built it. In there is something wonderful 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

  2. This quotation hit me like a ton of bricks. It is exactly right. I’m 74 now, and have been thinking about my “spiritual immunity” a lot lately. (I never heard the term before but it’s good!) I believe I received my immunity in two doses.

First, when I was 6 or 7, my mother, a science teacher, told me that the spoon I was using to eat breakfast cereal was full of holes. “It can’t be, or the milk would drop through,” I replied. “Nonetheless, it’s true,” she said. Well, here’s the person I trust more than anyone else in the world, and she’s obviously lying to me – I can see that the milk does not pass through the alleged holes. (I never forgot that, and much later I calculated that if ALL the space in that spoon could be removed, the resulting sphere of material would be so small it could not be seen, even with many microscopes!)

Second inoculation occurred in high school, thanks to one of my English teachers. She was spiritually immune, although I certainly didn’t appreciate it at the time. Most important among all the seeds of wisdom she planted was her explanation of why metaphor and allegory are used in the fiction we were reading. “The author is telling a story at the literal level, and the novel can be enjoyed by some on that basis alone. But there is a deeper level, and, using metaphor, the author requires one to ‘read with the heart rather than the mind,’ in other words, one must synthesise the meaning based on one’s own particular level of wisdom.” (Of course she was much more eloquent – I’m just paraphrasing as best I can.)

So, of course, I’m very thankful for those two experiences. (Although it is a terribly lonely place to be with nearly everyone else I know living in a serious state of fear and enthusiastically embracing the crippling Covid government directives.)

    Thanks for posting Bergson’s quote!

    1. Thank you so much for sharing to it experience. I really enjoyed reading your words and relate, especially to the last few sentences, as in a shared experience.
I too believe that fear holds many in it’s tight grip and a society that is fearful is easier to control.
It is a lonely place to stand on your own. Often being misunderstood or not understood period. It takes conviction to stay true to yourself and for some of us comes a time it is the only authentic way, no matter the cost and price of loneliness.
Thank you so much for stopping by John and for reading. Blessings 🙏🏼💙
