Querencia

New word week brings us the word querencia which is Spanish.

It describes a place from which ones strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self.

For me it is not one specific place but a feeling I get when I am surrounded by Mother Nature. It can be a little serene corner off of the beaten path, a place that allows me to just be. As I breathe deeply, I feel peace and strengths restored, filling my reservoir until the next time.

You might also find this feeling in the arms of loved one or amongst your tribe. You know the ones that simply get “you” and allow you to be yourself. The ones that actually embrace your kind of crazy, make you feel that you are not alone, while accepting every quirk and uniqueness you bring to the table.

Maybe you feel inspired to see how this word relates to you.

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

  1. I love this word, so beautiful!! I totally resonate with that second to last paragraph, but I think where I feel most at home is on the tennis court (I’m a high level tennis athlete, gone through so much on that court 🤪) and when my fingers touch the keys, something about writing soothes my soul. Thank you for broadening my vocabulary once again, and for this gem of a post! Keep shining, big love 🖤🖤

    1. Awe that is so wonderful and thank you for sharing this with me.
I can relate to you feeling this way on the court and you have built many memories there. I used to play ping pong in leagues in Germany and querencia can really happen anywhere. It’s associated with a feeling, peace, something powerful and meaningful.
So glad you enjoyed this one my friend and be well. Hugs. 💙🙏🏼

  2. Mmm, I think its when I’m In that place…the middle of a loving post, doing a hands on healing or talking to another’s heart.
Then maybe, among this crazy world, I’m ‘becoming querencia’…I hope so.
Great post, something for us all to look forward to ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋 😂 🤣
