Silver

More and more locks are turning silver and it’s been quite awhile I stopped coloring my hair. It started with the decision of wanting to live a healthier lifestyle, and do what I can to combat my chronic illness that can strike at any minute. It included being more conscious about what I feed my body, as well as avoiding the harsh chemicals associated with hair colorant.

Since then, I have met others who have finally taking the plunge to kick the chemicals to the curb. Not just for a healthier life but also because it’s simply liberating and freeing. As a matter of fact I think once you commit to it and embrace your silver, it can actually bring joy and there is nothing to fear anymore. The concerns of looking old, wondering how society perceives you, literally vanish as you enjoy your newfound freedom. Heck, people even pay a lot of money for what you are growing naturally.

Silver has nothing to do with age, and age is simply the number of years the world has been enjoying you.

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

    1. Thank you kindly. It is exactly that which I stopped and I have nobody to impress. At least not the need to do so. The right people will always accept me for who I am, including my silver hair. ❤️

Every woman is beautiful, but they have to realize this fact themselves and quit obeying societal standards of “beauty”..

  1. Ah Rhapsody, it is also achieving the beauty, wisdom and awareness of reaching your crone years. And no, crone most certainly does not mean anything you will find in a dictionary, it is the beauty of achieving that love and wisdom within, reaching an inner beauty to share with the world ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
And after all you have been through, it will be glowing nicely dear lady ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

    1. Yes it sure is and it’s beautiful. It doesn’t require the need to be covered up. It’s something to be proud of, a freedom and marvel that has seen many ups and downs in the process of it. 😉❤️🦋🙏🏼😘💋

I am learning to embrace what is…God knows I have spent far too much time avoiding reality and there is something freeing about embracing the reality of life. Thank you for such a beautiful post.

    1. Awe Princess thank you so much. You are so kind to me and so special. Always have been and I’m delighted to read your journey about learning to embrace. It is really in that, I’m learning to resist less, that life becomes easier and smoother. The more we go with the flow of things, the more freedom we actually feel. I have to catch up and read you in a bit. Big big hug and much love to you always. ❤️🦋

  3. I was glad to see silver in my hair. So much prettier than gray!! I avoided dyes til I got purple when taking care of mom and then last fall. It was fun. But, I will NEVER forget one hot summer day here in EO. My MiL was out and about and her recently home dyed brown hair was dripping onto her cheeks!!!!!! Yikes.

      1. I like the silver. If I decide to spend a couple hundred again for color, I might..but, it is super expensive. The stylist did several treatment things to my hair that added up. She didn’t charge me full prices, but I’d not let her get away with that again, it isn’t fair!
