Winter Solstice Blessings

May the longest night and the shortest day, bring rest to your mind and soul, I pray. May you find guidance and may you find peace, as the cycle of light will slowly increase. Embrace the magic that the darkness bears, breath deep in the chill and shift in the air. May you always be blessed with the light from within, and may well-being be yours as the new cycle begins.

A magical time

It’s almost Christmas, and for many of us it can be a stressful time. Running around, fighting crowds trying to get a deal. Staying alert, dodging people who drive a little too fast, and feeling the stress and financial burden to find the perfect present. Sadly many fall into the hectic of these and many more reasons and forget the magic of this special time.

For me it was working in retail for many years, making the Christmas season for special for others, and being too exhausted to enjoy my own. I have skipped working in retail for the past two seasons and I am grateful for visiting the German Christmas markets where I was reminded of the spirit of Christmas and why this time has always been my favorite holiday.

Here are a few other things to consider in the spirit of giving and just being merry.

This Christmas end a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Keep a promise. Find the time. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind, be gentle. Appreciate. Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Gladden the heart of a child. Welcome a stranger. Take pleasure in the beauty and the wonder of earth. Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it yet, once again.

When souls meet

When soul meets soul, magic happens. Presence falls away. One becomes authentic.

When soul meets soul, it is more of an energetic exchange, for one is now reading the other, at energetic soul level, for the soul is pure energy.

All that is left, is pure, unconditional love. Live without condition. Live that just openly loves and accepts all as it is.

Love that loves. ❤️

Family – Memories

Meet my four cousins with their Mom (Moms sister and my godmother). This picture was taken at one of the many Christmas markets I got to visit, mostly with family. There is no place like home, especially for the holidays and I am grateful for the time we’ve spent, the closeness we have found in each other and the support of caring for each other. I miss these guys like crazy already and can’t wait until the next time when we connect once more.

Shine bright like a diamond

It’s travel day and I am heading back to the states today. This post, along with others are pre-scheduled, as I’m sure I wouldn’t find the words on the actual day. There have been a few goodbyes and tears already, and more will transpire by the time this actually publishes. It’s so hard, although I have things and people to look forward to once I get back. Still it feels like I should be here where I feel closest to Mom. I am not ready to let go but perhaps a little distance is exactly what in need to heal.

A dear friend and sister was trying to cheer me up the other day. Long have we talked about getting up in the morning, starting the day with a little dance, well a dance like no one is watching and not really all that little. She send me a video Rihanna “Shine bright like a diamond” that immediately brought tears to my face. I was thinking of the choices we have to shine and how difficult it has been lately to shine bright like diamond. Perhaps I felt more like a dull, worn off stone that had lost its sparkle. Still I know it’s there, and not lost. It just takes time and sometimes it’s ok to be dull to still shine bright. Does that even make sense? I think sometimes strength lies in the silence, in the background and doesn’t always require actions. I think to shine is what we pay forward and give, even in times when we experience loss and pain. I think it’s a great treasure, a diamond when your heart has been broken and still bleeds love without it hardening itself.

So yes, I may have not danced like no one is watching yet, but I think I had my opportunities to shine bright like a diamond.

Where it all began

It looks like just another day in the shire, my small, little village where I was born. It’s where Mom settled with her parents, fleeing from the war as she was five years old. It’s where Mom and Dad roamed the streets, fell in love and later married.

How Mom loved her little village. She was a loyal supporter of the church and other projects, and even outside her village she would regularly donate or purchase goods from from organizations of a good cause.

This is were it all began and where I first saw the world. In the Valley at the foot of rolling hills, called the “Petersberg.” In the foreground is the St. Veit church and the cemetery where both Mom and Dad are now buried and remain in the village they once fell in love with.

Ansbacher Christmas Market

A scene from the Ansbacher Christmas Market. What a cool little stand with it’s rotating roof that reminded me of something like a windmill. These ornate, usually out wood Christmas displays can be found all over Germany and are intricately detailed and carved. The stand itself was serving hot Glühwein (mulled wine) and more. There isn’t any Christmas like the one at home, here in Germany. Where the hectic and greed of making sales, keeping the stores open day and night hasn’t quite caught up as much. Here, you can still enjoy shopping the markets for unique, often handmade goods, many times benefitting a good cause and the less fortunate. Here, you still take the time to bake cookies, while children count down the days with daily surprises or goodies from their advents calendars. Here, you still enjoy family and friends, getting together for a nice meal and simply just be.

There is no place like home for Christmas.

Wild beauty

Another shot from my recent trip traveling the German Austrian border. I was immediately intrigued about the jagged mountain range, although our trip took us the other direction, away from this wild beauty.

Our destination, Hallstatt was overrun by tourists, even this time of the year, which was surprising to me. I would later hear that there is an exact replica of Hallstatt in China and the tourists were here to see the original. We soon found ourselves seeking an area that wasn’t buzzing with quite as many humans. And guess what, that jagged, wild beauty seemed like a perfect solution. And it was.

This particular picture was taken at the end of the day when the clouds rolled off the mountains, leaving its breathtaking landscape in a mysterious and little eerie looking fog. Imagine the sound of church bells echoing through it all and you are literally right there.

Why your life cannot go wrong

The other day I overheard someone saying that your clock is programmed the moment you start to live. I have only thought of this concerning the events of our life’s being predetermined, vs. considering the timeframe of how many years we are given.

My time in Germany is nearing the end and this trip has been mostly about people, and helping each other. It has refocused my passion and what I really want to do in the future, working with energy healing and just being there for each other in whatever capacity possible.

I have seen from a closer view that there is much weight, sadness, worries, and trouble that we all carry around with us. We all carry our own bag of tools, collected from our experiences and some are heavier then others. Armed with our tools we face each test that life throws our way, always to the best of or ability but not always successful. Sometimes mastering the lessons so we can move on (growth), and other times failing miserably, reliving those same truths and tests over and over again until we hear and learn the message. We get frustrated and sometimes we forget that the hardest lessons bring the most beautiful results. Perhaps we know and just resent the process of “getting there.”

In reality, your world is set up so that nothing happens to you, but everything happens for you-for your awakening, for your growth, for your inspiration, for your exploration – even if you forget that, or sometimes cannot see it, or sometimes fall into distraction and despair

When there is no fixed destination, you cannot ever lose your destination, so you cannot ever lose your path, so nothing that happens in your life can take you off your path. Your path IS what happens, and what happens IS your path. There is no other.

Everything is a gift on this unbreakable path that you call your life – the laughter, the tears, the times of great sorrow, the experiences of profound loss, the pain, the confusion, the times you believe you’ll never make it, even the overwhelming heartbreak of love – even if you forget that sometimes, or cannot see that sometimes, or lose faith absolutely in the entire show sometimes.

But even the loss of faith in the show is part of the show, and even the scene where something goes wrong, is not indicative of the show going wrong, and so you are always exactly where you need to be, believe it or not, even if you are not.

Life can be trusted absolutely, even when trust seems a million light years away, and life cannot go wrong, for all is life, and life is all.

Understand this, know it in your heart, and spirituality is profoundly simple, as simple as breathing, as natural as gazing up at the stars at night and falling into silent wonder.

The universe is more beautiful than you could ever imagine.
