Allow yourself to be loved

Art A. Andrew Gonzalez

Different things inspire me at different times. I have always been a sucker for quotes and wise sayings because I think they are confirmation for various stepping stones along our journey. Other times these confirmations serve as inspiration to keep going, or perhaps to consider a different approach and point of view.

Recently I realized that I am in need of some healing. I never fully dealt with some early trauma in my life that continued into my adulthood and beyond. I have carried these burdens for many years, decades even, and allowed them to manifest illness in the form of RA within my body. My blog is a warriors journey, and warriors give the impression to be strong beings, right? I have always had to be strong, and I’ve been strong, perhaps too strong for too long. It’s time for some changes and I’m not saying to get weak, but in my opinion there is much strengths that lies in the ability to be vulnerable. Others could easily perceive it as being soft, but have you ever found the courage to wear your heart on your sleeve, trusting, believing and hoping that you won’t get hurt in the end? Have you put yourself last, putting everyone else before you? I know I have, and the following quote stood out and spoke to me, perhaps as a reminder for the “Now” in my journey. If you believe that everything has meaning and is relevant for that given time you encounter it, you will believe that there are no ordinary moments and everything has purpose.

When Teresa of Avila was asked what she did in prayer, she replied, “I just allow myself to be loved.”

~Anthony de Mello

Maybe it’s time….

Who am I, and why I write. I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I am the one, holding on to the silver lining when the skies are gray. I’m a believer that nothing is coincidence, but that everything has purpose. I’ve made my mistakes, don’t we all, but I see them as growing pains and they are a part of who I am today. I have lost myself in order to find myself, and I still do from time to time, but in a good way. I’m a big child who laughs until my belly hurts when life wants to be serious. Career wise: I’ve been there, done that, and I took “The jump” off the hamster wheel in an effort to change my future. I didn’t land all that soft, but I can say that I’m still proud to have found the courage to do it. Coming full circle, I had it all, and yet I was lonely and had nothing. Today I choose to be a collector of moments and I chase memories, instead of the material stuff. Less is more, and the motto is quality over quantity. You’d be amazed at how freeing it can be. I see myself as a free spirit that believes in an unconventional lifestyle. Somehow I go against the grain most of the times, not to rebel, but because it feels right to stay true to my unique and authentic self. It takes courage, and you often stand alone, but if you dare, you soon realize that it is the only way if you don’t want to lose who you are. Just like most, my past wasn’t easy and I come from a life that didn’t always give me the opportunity to be heard. Few related and even fewer cared to take the time. But that’s the past and it’s history, the future hasn’t happened and the “NOW” is truly all we ever have. In the end we all have a story to tell, and we all seek to be understood. We all yearn to be heard and accepted and still life is hard and our path is full of stumbling blocks. If we can see the lessons in adversity we may realize that the toughest moments are often our greatest teachers. There is a reason for the saying that the stars can’t shine without darkness, and it might be darkness that will show you the light.
It took a series of (un)fortunate events, to learn to glow through the pain, to learn how to dance in the rain. I believe in Magic and wonder, and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. As an empath this old soul often feels a little too much, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Today, I am here to tell my story because I believe that it can help others. It is my hope to bring inspiration and strengths to you, while showing you that it can be done. I know you are out there, and I know you are suffering in silence. I am here to tell you that you are not alone, and your voice is being heard loud and clear. Hang on and be strong, transformation is yours.

  1. I hear you, Rhapsody.
After many years, I had a feeling of need for healing. It was not easy to recognize, but I got started for almost 3 years ago. I have mostly of the time received Reiki, Reflexology and Spiritual Massage once a week, except the time in hospital, where my therapist also visited me and gave me Reflexology to be able to learn to walk again and it helped so much and the change was physical visible for the people around me.
Since my last move, I found a new therapist, where I get the needed help too. I find this to be a great investment in my own health. I will now go down to twice a month by other reasons, but not stop. It wasn’t easy to ask for help and to be able to receive it too, but I learned by time.
I will include you in my healing session daily.
Much love and hugs for you ❤

    1. I know what you mean Irene and we are so used to doing it all alone that we have to learn to ask. But we deserve good things in our life’s too and can’t always just give.
Thank you for including me in your healing sessions. You already know you are part of mine.
Mich Love to you my fiend. Xo ❤️

  2. Yes dear lady, it is one of the most powerful things you can do. To be viewed as a weakness means our fears still hold sway. Face those fears, and in understanding them they lose ‘their’ power over us and we become new.
To break free and stand in our truth is the most loving thing you can do and our lives are dedicated to that expedition to find that treasure of a happiness and love we always seek. It is there gently waiting for that time when we love ourselves enough to stop and face that so heartfelt pain and understand our journey was not a universe gone mad but one that has given us an understand of love…our love ❤️
Love and light Rhapsody, may your light always be that beacon on your path ❤️

    1. I hear you and perhaps I would have never changed until I had no choice and had to. Being physically ill, I had to reevaluate this as I can’t be good to anyone if I am not well myself. I’m sure it will be constant work in progress.

    1. I think a healthy balance is key and I am always learning. Thank you so much for your kind words. I am healing right now. It still is a hard and painful process but it is only in facing and addressing those very things that we can heal.
