Trail music

A few years ago, I had the chance watching someone play the ukulele on the four mile trail. It was in Yosemite National Park as a small group of hikers passed us on the steep trail to Glacier point. I noticed the small music instrument strapped to one of their packs and I could only imagine the moments shared between this young group and the songs played. Memories would be made and special moments where waiting to be created. Wanderlust at it’s finest for sure.

Luck would have it that a short while later the young group was taking a break which allowed us to catch up. We were treated to a small excerpt from a song and it was simply magical. I will never forget this moment and it was beyond cool to experience this trail spirit. Ever since, I have been talking about getting a ukulele and the subject comes up here and there, although I don’t know how to play one. It was like one of those unusual things that all of a sudden pop into my mind, when I feel that there is some sort of connection with it. Kind of like the rain boots that I wanted all of a sudden to relive a childhood memory of jumping into the water puddles without a care. It’s something like that, something that will enrich the experience and soothe my soul. Well guess what’s? Look what Santa brought! Looks like I’m going to learn how to play the ukulele and Santa’s Elves made one for me. Heaven help the wildlife that I will serenade soon. 😉💙🦋

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

    1. Very true but I’m also a very determined person haha. If I’m interested in something, I find the motivation and I think it will be cool to play a few songs on the trail. Thank you for the confidence in me, I will have to keep you posted 😉

    1. Ha ha Youtube Video huh? Lol we will see. I’ve started my first beginner song Jason Mraz “I’m yours” and it’s actually a fun idea to do a series. Maybe play it in different places ones I learn. That might be neat, unless I suck and scare all the wildlife away. Pssst. I got another musical instrument. Most unusual and a trip to play. Wishing you a wonderful time in the Alps my dear friend and I’ll catch up shortly. Hugs

  2. I just found your blog by entering the word “music” into the WordPress search field. Hurrah that you now have a ukulele in your life! I started playing a little blue uke (which cost $35 and still stays in tune well) about eight years ago. I took a class called “Ukulele For the Almost Musical” with a fun-loving, patient teacher. It was very exciting to discover how many great songs only use 4-6 chords. Then I started attending ukulele Meetup groups. The sound of one ukulele is sweet. The sound of 10-50 ukuleles playing together is angelic! I hope you continue to enjoy playing your ukulele — alone AND as part of a group. And I am sure you have already discovered the many online ukulele teaching/learning videos on Youtube… Keep strumming!!!

    1. This is so wonderful and you sharing this with me was truly magical. I love my ukulele and the sound playing it is soothing for me. I’m learning different strumming techniques now and developed my first callouses from playing lol. I can imagine the sound of more playing together. Angelic must truly be the word. Yes I am learning through YouTube videos and I surely will keep with it. Thank you so much for the follow and for sharing this. I would love to hear you play it and will surely check out your blog very shortly. Have a beautiful day.
