When feathers appear

Do you see feathers along your path or in unusual places? You might consider and entertain the thought that it is a message from the universe. I have collected many over the years, ranging from different colors to different sizes. There is a meaning to each color and it is said that when a feather crosses your path, a loved one is watching over you and your guardian angel is near. What a beautiful thought, so the next time you find a feather on your path, remember that you’re not alone.

We are the co-creators of our life and the time is now. More than ever are we needed to support Mother Earth and each other. Together we discover and explore our unique gifts in times of strengths, in times we lean on each other, and in times when we learn from each other. This blog started as an outlet and what I ultimately called my “Warriors Journey.” It was a way to document the ups and downs of my life, sharing my hardships as well as my successes. It showcased the struggles, but more important the ways of how to overcome them. Although we are warriors each and every day, I realized that having to be a warrior, comes from a place of pain. I decided to rename this blog, and “Phoenix Rising” now stands for the story of overcoming such a painful place. My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell...
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes. Namaste 🙏🏼💙🦋

  1. The neatest feather experience I’ve had was during a canoe ride. As we were paddling along the mirror-like pond, I saw something floating on the water. We paddled closer and realized that there were quite a few feathers floating on the water. Black and white with speckles, they were presents from one of our resident loons.

    1. Beautiful and it hasn’t been long since I heard the loon call for the first time. I was mesmerized and could listen for hours. There is something haunting yet so tranquil and beautiful about the sound. I got to see and photograph one up close during that encounter and it was magical.

      1. It wasn’t till we got our little cottage on the water that I found out there are four loon calls. I love the one where they communicate with their loved ones, especially their babies. It sounds like a soft qwuck. Kind of like “hot’ You have to be very close to hear it, but it’s their happy sound, so it’s the one I love best. ❤️

      2. I believe it is their wailing call that I like the best. It was at sunset when I heard it and it felt like a perfect addition to the Wild West being lit up by the disappearing sun and the coyote like call. It was magical.

      3. That’s how they converse or find one another. The maniacal laughter call is for danger. And the one that goes up and down a lot is the male’s mating call. The wail is pretty cool.
