Calm, the water was like glass during the short boatride to Wizard Island. The rim of Crater Lake was perfectly reflecting in what appeared like a mirror image in the water. Holding a photograph, it would prove hard to decipher later which side was the real rim and what was reflection. Unless you knew of course and that’s how still the water was.
I remember the boat gliding quietly through the deep blue that looked like thick syrup and which only allowed a view below the surface in a few shallow spots. For the most part it was just the thickest, bluest of blue you had ever seen and there was something very serene and magical about this place.
