Abstract Warrior

Painting is art in creation for me. It allows me to bring to life the imagination that ultimately starts in my head. Much like writing and photography it is an outlet for me, a balance to a hectic life that could easily fall into a rut. It is storytelling, something that should speak to you the viewer and stir an emotion that makes you pause for a moment. If I can do that through my art or my writing, then I have made a difference and couldn’t be happier.

My paintings are born from my own life events, from things that inspire me, emotions that stir at me and from phases that I experience, current and past. Because of this they often become very personal to me, even though I often try to portray them on a lighter note, in a corky, playful and silly manner that takes the edge off and makes me smile.

The painting I would like to share with you today came about as I was going through some rough patches. It is named “Warrior Princess” and started as an abstract, just throwing different colors onto the canvas with no particular vision. (Letting out frustration perhaps, painting uncontrolled and outside the lines, in other words making a mess….much like life who is messy at times). Afterwards, I held the multi colored canvas to see what images would emerge and what my imagination could create. I recognized shapes of myself from within all of the colors, some faint and a lot of imagination was needed and some crystal clear and so the outline to my warrior princess was born. 

The deeper meaning of this painting stands for no matter how crazy life can get, how many different things are thrown your way (colors), remember there is always a way and you can always shine through, being that strong warrior princess you are. Xoxoxo.

My motivation for this blog hasn’t changed and I hope to share inspiration and hope, to create a sense of belonging, a space of being heard, and connecting with like minded beings who instill a sense of oneness. We are never alone, and we are unstoppable in the pursuit of what sets our soul on fire. Who I am in a nutshell... 
I am an energy healer and Reiki Master. I am surviving a chronic disease that I’ve sent into remission three times since my initial bout, 15 years ago. I continuously challenge the status quo and by doing so I change my stars. I am a believer that anything is possible. I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that true love exists on various levels. I am an optimist that will always see the glass as half full. I am a dreamer, believing in endless possibilities. Not even the sky is the limit. I have jumped off of the hamster wheel, and I am writing a new chapter. I am chasing my Nirvana to support my most authentic self. This is my story, I am that Phoenix and I am rising from the ashes.   3. I will say that you have a lot of feelings in your drawing for sure, and the colors you choose are for a reason. A lot of people don’t realize that each color stands for something in spiritual world. And that is a whole different story for another day, or even post from myself. But I noticed one thing in your painting a butterfly or that might be a dragonfly, which ever that is, that’s a power statement that your making. And I don’t know if you even know that history between these two spirits, but I am so thankful for every time I see one. But again what a great painting and one day you will see that famous stick figure painting that I have done… Many blessings to you my spiritual friend…

    1. I don’t know about the meaning of the butterfly and the colors are usually chosen on if they soothe my mind or not. How they compliment each other, bright and playful vs. dreary and drab. So yes they do have a meaning.
      Thanks for your kind words. You’ll have to fill me in the meaning of the butterfly some day.

  5. I’m in love with this painting! It’s stunning my friend. You are so ridiculously talented on so many levels. Thank you for inspiring me on a night that I really needed it.   7. This has to be one of my all time faves!! Maybe you should consider prints as this speaks to so many people. We all go through those times that we need to be reminded how much of a warrior lives inside us. Yours is strong indeed. I’m thinking back to when we first met and your “vision” that intrigued me 🙂 I like the way you “see ” things

    1. The vision behind those eyes to the things that make me tick. It’s been a blessing running into you my friend, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. People like you make the difference every day not just for me but for the world. I’m blessed to know you and have you as my friend. That warrior might be strong but it too has moments and you know. Thanks for always being there, a friend who picks me back up when my focus needs redirecting.
      Maybe I should look into prints. I have a lot of research to do of how this works etc. and maybe I could do a Etsy page to start.
